Irelands Southwest and West (Part 2)

Part 2 of our 2017 trip through Irleands Southwest and West. Arriving in Dublin, we immediately got our car and headed southeast. Dublin itself was planed as the Great Final of the tour. Some people (greetings to Jim) are recommending to hire a car as small as possible, as driving in Ireland can be challenging… Continue reading Irelands Southwest and West (Part 2)

A Nikon F-301 travelling Ireland

Overture Mid 2017 we made a two week trip through Ireland. Motivated by Jim Grey from Down the Road who made several wonderful posts about his journey in 2016, I tried to get hands on an old analog Nikon F-301 camera with a 35mm lens attached. I packed five rolls of Agfa Vista 400 to… Continue reading A Nikon F-301 travelling Ireland

A Yashica T5 sailing the IJsselmeer

In summer 2017 we chartered a boat, a 24m long tjalk, to sail the IJsselmeer and Markermeer for a week. The Vrouw Dina – that’s the boat’s name – was commanded  by two skippers – Simi and Daniel – and we acted as their amateurish part time crew. I choose my old Yashica T5 to… Continue reading A Yashica T5 sailing the IJsselmeer

Photographers Christmas Dream

Coming back from a short trip to Nürnberg, I also had time for a stay on the Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt … and it’s world-famous Schaschlik booth (pictures later, when the film has been processed). Found there an amazing old photo shop with some nice Photographers Christmas Dream. As it was Sunday, the shop was closed …… Continue reading Photographers Christmas Dream

Sevilla, when it’s still cold at home – Part 6

Walking through town, where it’s always worth making a picture … or two. Same in the old World’s Fair area, where the EXPO ’92 was hosted and where so many nice spots were left behind. Contrary to Lisbon (EXPO ’98) in Seville no one seems to be proud of this area and what has been… Continue reading Sevilla, when it’s still cold at home – Part 6

Sevilla, when it’s still cold at home – Part 5

Real Alcazar is one of the miracles of Spanish history, built for king Peter of Castile between 1350 and 1369.  It is the oldest royal palace in Europe still in use. After this long tour, we had some time to stroll around in town. As so many times before, I made two albums, one in… Continue reading Sevilla, when it’s still cold at home – Part 5

Sevilla, when it’s still cold at home – Part 4

Bullfighting is still a cultural highlight in this part of spain – whether you like it or not. The Placa de Toros is worth visiting nevertheless – even outside the season. Sevilla, when it’s still cold at home – Part 2

Calle Sierpes is a wonderful shopping lane in the old center of Sevilla. Sevilla, when it’s still cold at home – Part 1

Visiting this beautiful old town in Al Andalus for the second time, this time we choose to come in February to escape the summer heat with its approx. 40 °C. Contax G1 with a Zeiss Planar 2/45mm

This time a beautiful Contax G1 found its way to me, accompanied by three legendary Zeiss lenses. All parts are in good shape, so let’s see what comes out when the first film is pushed through. On the one side, the Contax G-System (i.e. the G1 and even more its sibling the G2) is said… Continue reading Contax G1 with a Zeiss Planar 2/45mm

Inspiration is the motor for improvement

Did I ever tell the story, … why I love a special kind of city skyline images? It was some time ago, when I was looking for something wide, something quite wide, something quite large and something … quite old. I found a Zeiss Ikon Ercona, a 6×9 technical wonder from the early fifties –… Continue reading Inspiration is the motor for improvement
