Australian Adventure – I’m done!

Sunday, June 10th, 2018

These were the last images I posted in my Australian Adventure series, started long ago. They show two old classic Volkswagen in Fitzroy/Melbourne. It was our last day in Melbourne and Australia and so gives a good link to our next day flight back to Germany.

The complete series can be found here on my flickr page. The whole Australian Adventure story started in November 2015, when I headed to a three weeks trip to the South East of Western Australia, the Tasmanian Island and … finally Melbourne. There were so many wonderful impressions, that I would not hesitate to come back again … some day. It took me nearly 18 months to complete the review and postprocessing of nearly 1000 images taken mostly with the workhorse Olympus OM-D E-M1 and its wonderful lens M.Zuiko 12-40mm PRO, supplemented by my iPhone 5s. 286 images found finally their way on my flickr page, some of them in colour, some in black&white and some in both moods.

As written in the title, I’m done with the Australian Adventure and I’m already heading towards the next series – Northern Spain with the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Castile-Leon – where we travelled in spring 2016.

Australian Adventure – Murals

Friday, April 20th, 2018

This time – and I promise this trip is nearing its end – we strolled through the streets of Melbourne, hunting for the famous murals.

Melbourne is full of street art and in some areas you can’t miss ’em – like here around Hosier Lane.

Australian Adventure – Melbourne Skyline

Saturday, February 17th, 2018

Our trip to the world’s end is nearing it’s finishing line.
This time I have a couple of long time exposure night shots from Melbourne’s southbank over the Yarra River which show the full beauty of this fantastic skyline. As you know my dilemma, boths worlds look stunning – black&white and coloured.

Enjoy 😉

Australian Adventure – Classic Cars

Saturday, January 27th, 2018

Nice intermediate … in Melbourne, when visiting the Queen Victoria Market, we found a Classic Car Show with loads of beautiful cars. As mentioned before, I find colour and black&white very pleasing.

This was a Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 Sedan (1960).

Here the phantastic colours …

… and here come the beautiful black&white.

Enjoy 😉

Australian Adventure IV – Melbourne

Friday, January 12th, 2018

Coming to the final part of our tip to tne world’s end, we now entered Melbourne, a fascinating big city – Australia’s second largest. with nearly 10 times the size of Berlin (10000 km²:1000 km²) it hast around the same number of people living there – approx. 4.5 mio.

This city is so colourful and full of structures and forms, so that I still struggle about the type of series to show. On the one side, you can make a full b&w series with all the forms and structures and subtle tones and on the other side you can show the rich colours of that city.

Limiting oneself to one or the other would make the series more consistent – but would also not show the full picture. Driven by this, I’ll show either the one or the other or … both, as many views can be appealing in both styles.

Enjoy 😉
